Student Activities is more than just social events. We provide opportunities for the students to express themselves& their opinions about Egypt and Egyptians. There are MANY activities available for our students to enjoy and explore, which in return compliment our students' overall language learning. In other words, we want our students to explore real life and learning besides the traditional classroom setting.
In March 2007, the school thought of a new activity that would encourage all the students to say their opinions to all the Egyptians and what they like and what annoys them. So we thought how to put this into action and we found that the best way is to make the students do this themselves through talking to all the Egyptians. We asked our students to write their opinions and discuss them with their teachers. Then two of our best Modern Standard Arabic's teachers collected these opinions and wrote a PLAY. The students themselves chose the name of the play, "We Love you Egypt" "بِنْحِبك يا مَصْر"
In order for this play to be successful, we thought of performing this play at a famous place where many people would be interested in watching this show. So the manager of the school did his best to have our play on the OPERA HOUSE' s El Hanager Stage. The play witnessed a great success that surpassed the school's expectation. There was wide coverage by the Egyptian& non Egyptian media.
The play combined all the students' thoughts of unpleasant situations: like the beggars, the vendors… They also presented the pleasant situations they face all the times. They believe that the Egyptians are friendly, generous; lovable…The real challenge was that the play was all in the Egyptian dialect.
It was an exciting experience, enjoy watching the play here, and we hope you enjoy it like we all do. :) :)
